These suggestions are for full sightseeing days based in Füssen. Allow extra time for arrival and departure, or shorten the first and last day. Morning, afternoon and evening show the sequence; booked tickets, timetables and opening hours determine your actual times.
For solo travelers
Travel at your own pace: culture, new perspectives and active days. You can swap the longer tours for a leisurely day by the lake.

DAY 1 · OLD TOWN & LECHUFER
Arrive in Füssen
On foot from the hostel
Morning
Old town and Hohes Schloss
Start in the Reichenstraße, discover the small streets and go up to the Hohes Schloss. For the inner courtyard and the galleries, please follow the visiting times.
After a lunch break, the city's museum fits in with your cultural morning. Then you go to the banks of the Lech; You can use the Lechfall when access is open.
Well planned: No additional excursion locations on this day: This leaves enough time to arrive after arrival or between visits.
02
DAY 2 · HOHENSCHWANGAU
Neuschwanstein and the Alpsee
Public bus 73 or 78 + footpaths
Morning
With time in reserve to the castle
Get to Hohenschwangau early enough and visit Neuschwanstein (Schloss Neuschwanstein) at your booked entry time. Ascent, shuttle waiting time and final walk come before the tour.
Well planned: Reserve only one castle tour. The Marienbrücke is an optional detour if access is open; the Pöllat Gorge is not part of this plan.

DAY 3 · FÜSSEN, RIEDEN & SCHWANGAU
A day around the Forggensee

Medium
Start: Boat harbor Füssen
Morning
Onto the Forggensee round
Organize your bike in advance and start the described tour at the boat harbor. Follow the tour map through the towns around the lake and travel at your own pace.
Allow the afternoon for a picnic, photo stops and the rest of the cycle route. The stated cycling time excludes the journey from the hostel and all breaks.
Enjoy the views, walk together and take unhurried breaks. Each day groups destinations close to one another and leaves time for a good meal.
01
DAY 1 · FÜSSEN & LECHUFER
Old town, art and short breaks
On foot from the hostel
Morning
Together through the old town
Walk from the Reichenstraße through the streets to the Hohes Schloss. Give yourself time to look; the galleries are an option depending on your interests and their opening times.
Well planned: The paths remain in Füssen on this day. A museum or a longer coffee break can easily be included.
02
DAY 2 · NEUSCHWANSTEIN & ALPSEE
Royal castle and sea time
Public bus 73 or 78 + footpaths
Morning
Experience a castle consciously
Visit Neuschwanstein on a tour booked in advance. Allow plenty of time for travel and the ascent; the time on your ticket is the admission time at the castle.
Back in town you have time for a meal and a walk along the northern bank. Choose the section according to your desire and energy; you don't have to walk around the lake.
Well planned: Hohenschwangau is an alternative to Neuschwanstein. Two castle tours and a complete Alpsee tour are deliberately not planned for the same day.
03
DAY 3 · HOPFEN AM SEE
Hopfensee with Alpine panorama
Bus or bike to Hopfen
6,9 km
Approx. 2 hours walking time
15 m of ascent
Start: hops
Morning
Together around the Hopfensee
Walk the circular route from Hopfen with time for photo stops. The promenade and the quieter sections of the shore show different sides of the lake.

01
DAY 1 · OLD TOWN & BAUMGARTEN
Füssen with little explorers
Short distances on foot
Morning
Alleys and castle facades
Take a short walk through the Reichenstraße and up to the Hohes Schloss. Look together for the painted windows and bay windows when the courtyard is open.
After dinner, plan a cozy stay at Baumgarten. A short walk to the banks of the Lech fits the bill; You can only add the Lechfall if the access is open and there is enough energy.
Well planned: The city is enough for the first day. Save yourself additional trips and plan breaks according to the children's rhythm.
02
DAY 2 · HOHENSCHWANGAU & ALPSEE
A royal castle for the family
Public bus 73 or 78 + ascent
Morning
Neuschwanstein with booked tour
Reserve the tickets for all fellow travelers in advance and plan the journey, waiting time and ascent generously. It is crucial that you get to the castle in time.
After the tour we head down to the valley for a break. A short stretch on the northern shore is enough for lake and mountain views; the full round is not necessary for this family day.
Well planned: With small children you can explore the town and the Alpsee instead of the long climbs. Circular paths and castle climbs are not generally suitable for strollers.
03
DAY 3 · FOREST EXPERIENCE CENTER
Forest adventure in Ziegelwies
Travel separately to Ziegelwies; woodland paths on site
Morning
Between the treetops
Start at the forest adventure center with the treetop path if you feel comfortable at altitude. Alternatively, you can start at the bottom with one of the forest stations.
After snacking, choose the riparian forest or mountain forest path that suits the age of the children. Take your time to play and try things out; you don't have to visit all areas.
Book a suitable entry time and plan the routes beforehand. The time on the ticket applies at the castle. Our travel aid and route map explain the bus, shuttle and ascent.
You receive your free original Füssen Card at evening check-in. It includes travel on many regional public-bus services. The castle shuttle, cable cars and boat trips have their own conditions; check them separately.
Swap a day in the mountains or by the lake for St. Mang, the galleries in the Hohes Schloss or the reptile zoo. Choose according to your interests and check visiting times. Museums are also a good alternative if castle tickets are not available.
Boat trips, swimming spots and mountain trails depend on season and conditions. Check cable-car operations, last return journey and open paths. The route and tour values come from our linked excursion descriptions; Breaks and journeys are added.
These plans bring together destinations from our Explore Füssen pages. Follow the excursion links for current visitor information and trail notices. Change the order to suit the weather, opening days and your booked castle tour.
